Kites

I've shelled out about seventeen quid for a kite. I want to attach a video camera to it, and shoot movies from up in the sky.

This particular sort of kite is supposed to be amongst the most stable available. I'd actually like to be able to take pictures, but that requires either a lot of money or considerable ingenuity. I've heard of people rigging up timers based on the melting of ice cubes.

I do however have this little video camera.

It's the same one I used to video the bike rides a few months back. It's a bit temperamental, but if I use a certain sequence of events, I can get it to work properly.

Apart from starting it recording, I have no control about how long it records for. I suppose with practice, I could get  degree of control over which way it points.

Anyway, I shall post the resulting videos. I doubt if they'll be as good as this...

30 second music quiz, take 2!

Bit of an exercise in cognition, this.

Presumably other people apart from the knowledgeable "Peter" took the time to listen to the quiz, but I got no responses.

I don't suppose people that come here because they've stumbled upon my alphabet page are going to be into the same music as me. I should bleeding well hope not anyway!

But what I've done is insert a 1000 milisecond silence between each fragment. I reckon that because they're not all running into each other, it should be a bit easier.

At the moment, the last couple of tracks aren't showing up, and I've managed to mess up the formatting on the table below. It's now very late, and I will sort it out later.

Edit: Now the last couple of tracks are showing up, all by themselves.

David Alvand's back garden as seen by the media

Nightmare neighbour

David Alvand refuses

to chop trees which

can be seen from space

Screams Australian Newspaper, The Herald Sun.

Well, let's see, shall we?

First of all, what is space?

The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale has established the Kármán line at an altitude of 100 kilometres (62 mi) as a working definition for the boundary between aeronautics and astronautics.

The United States designates people who travel above an altitude of 50 miles (80 km) as astronauts.

NASA's mission control uses 76 miles (122 km) as their re-entry altitude, which roughly marks the boundary where atmospheric drag becomes noticeable, (depending on the ballistic coefficient of the vehicle), thus leading shuttles to switch from steering with thrusters to maneuvering with air surfaces.
