Those pesky goddamned commie scientists have been at it again.
The latest idea is that if you pass an electric current through a metal coil, you produce resistance, and therefore, heat is generated. They reckon that such technology is causing the water in my kettle to heat up.
Well I'm not having it, do you hear?
First of all, it might be quite nice if the water in my kettle is warmer.
In any case, I have serious doubts about the science. Lots of electrical engineers and quantum physicists signed a petition on the internet debunking the myth of electric making kettles boil. Clearly there is no consensus on the issue.
And frankly, even if there is a connection, well there's no conclusive proof that it's human activity that's responsible. The kettle is by a window, so it could be sunlight that's making it warmer. Or some other factor we don't know about yet.
And here's the clincher.
Back in 1503,. people had kettles, which sometimes boiled. Yet there was no electricity. So the idea that it's electricity that's causing kettles to boil is just clearly ludicrous.

Hooray for volcanoes!

One Icelandic volcano has today done what Plane Stupid can only dream of achieving.
What a pity it had to emit so much CO2 during the process.
Actually, I did wonder how volcanic activity compared with human activity. The U.S. Geological survey reckons:
Comparison of CO2 emissions from volcanoes vs. human activities.
Scientists have calculated that volcanoes emit between about 130-230 million tonnes (145-255 million tons) of CO2 into the atmosphere every year (Gerlach, 1991). This estimate includes both subaerial and submarine volcanoes, about in equal amounts. Emissions of CO2 by human activities, including fossil fuel burning, cement production, and gas flaring, amount to about 27 billion tonnes per year (30 billion tons) [ ( Marland, et al., 2006) - The reference gives the amount of released carbon (C), rather than CO2, through 2003.]. Human activities release more than 130 times the amount of CO2 emitted by volcanoes--the equivalent of more than 8,000 additional volcanoes like Kilauea (Kilauea emits about 3.3 million tonnes/year)! (Gerlach et. al., 2002)

Racism and climate change
Black absorbs sunlight. White reflects it. In order to combat climate change, we need black people to stay indoors, and white people to lie down naked in the garden. When they get too tanned, they will have to stay indoors too.

A black person. To make matters worse, he's wearing a black hat too. Fortunately for the global climate, he's inside, where he can't do too much harm.

White person, with blonde hair. Outside, doing her bit.
Good show, chaps.
