I think they do as a rule and generally quickly. It is only us stupid humans that place honour above self-preservation, well, sometimes, and even then it is described in terms of altruism, heroism, philanthropy... Maybe we should all be like Trump and just grab all we can whenever we can, shaft everybody, have no moral boundaries, do whatever we can get away with and when we can't, attack the accuser and have the person charged with enforcing any punishment removed from their position.
It is all about passing on your DNA and giving it the best chance of it, in turn, being passed on, for some strange reason.
