Earth Hour 2...
Before:
During:
See the difference?
Nope. Neither can I. There were a few people down there having a look, but hopes of a mass switchoff didn't attract the crowds the way a big firework display does.
Shame really. The waterfront is a big lit symbol, and if a significant number of lights had gone out, it would have been impressive. Places like the Echo Arena were lit up outside, when they could have joined in easily.
Ah well. Maybe next year, hey?
Also went down to New Brighton Promenade. There's a bit there without streetlights. I took a photo of the tower blocks known as "The Cliffs" during and after the hour.
Here they are...
During:
After:
Nothing. Not even a smidgen of difference. There was a house with just the telly lighting up the room, but I don't know if they always do that, or whether they were watching telly in the dark to help save the planet.

If you want any webwork doing, you couldn't give it to a nicer person.
New Website!
My wife thought it all looked horribly bland and generic though, so I based it on a nice picture that I was using on my business cards instead. I cut right down on the windy verbiage too. Gone are the superfluous self promotions. Now I give the facts! Straight!

how to fail your test...
Damn shame, frankly, because she only got 3 minor faults. Unfortunately she kept in the left hand lane to go straight ahead at a mini roundabout. (from the right in the picture below)
Usually this is the correct way of doing it, but on this occasion, there were arrows painted on the road, meaning that the left lane was for turning left only.
It's just by Asda in Liscard, and here's what it looks like on Google Earth...

the age of stupid
Unless we act now to reduce emissions, we face the prospect of catastrophic runaway climate change over the next few decades.
If you get the chance, please go see this film.

Uzbekistan - UK govt and torture...
Murray lost his job for speaking out against human rights abuses. Go on... send that mail.On Tuesday 10 March the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights will discuss whether or not to hear my evidence on the UK government’s policy of using intelligence from torture. They discussed whether to hear my evidence on 3 March but failed to reach a conclusion.
The government is lobbying hard for my exclusion. I need everybody to send an email to jchr@parliament.uk to urge that I should be allowed to give evidence. Just a one-liner would be fine. If you are able to add some comment on the import of my evidence, or indicate that you have heard me speak or read my work, that may help. Please copy your email to craigjmurray@tiscali.co.uk.
Please also pass on this plea to anyone you can and urge them to act. Help from other bloggers in posting this appeal would be much appreciated.
The evidence I am trying to give the parliamentary committee is this:
I wish to offer myself as a witness before the Joint Commission on Human Rights on the subject of the UK government’s policy on intelligence cooperation with torture abroad…

My life through the medium of Google Earth
Edit: 1st June 2009
On second thoughts, let's not.
jobs wot i have had....1
I had the worst round in the shop. Over the hills and far away. I had to ride about 10 miles to deliver maybe 20 papers, and since we got paid by the paper, I got about a quid a week. I lasted about a month. A dark dank and dreary December...
It's all a bit dim now,(I think I was 14 years old) but I'll try to remember and post the route.
I suppose in these days of miracle and wonder, delivering papers is something of a dying trade. Good, I say. As a character in Kurt Vonnegut's novel, Slaughterhouse 5, said as he abandoned his round, "It's such a royal screwing."
